TRANSITIONS (A NEW CLASS)

This class is specially designed to introduce “party” bridge players to the wonderful world of duplicate bridge.  Taught by Felix Moore, this class will introduce you to modern bidding methods as well as the theory and mechanics of duplicate bridge.  Classes will be held Saturday afternoons at 1:00pm starting on March 3.  At the conclusion of the 5-week class the group will have the opportunity to participate under supervision in the regular Saturday afternoon novice game.   Cost is $15.

ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS’ CLASS

Have you never played bridge, but want to learn this fascinating game?  This class starts at the beginning, using the text, Bidding in the 21st Century.  Keesha Ashanti and Hong Hai DuBroff will teach the basic concepts of duplicate bridge, including hand evaluation, bidding (no trump, major and minor suit openings and responses) trick taking and scoring.  The 9-class series will meet on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm starting on March 7.  Cost is $25 including the book.

ADVANCED BEGINNERS’ CLASS

This class focuses on defense, but like all courses in the ACBL Bridge Series, bidding and hand play are reviewed.  As the third class in the series, it follows “Play of the Hand” which was taught last fall.  This class requires a basic knowledge of Standard American bidding and hand play.  Topics include leads, defensive hand play, signals, developing tricks and negative doubles.  The text is Defense in the 21st Century.  Instructors will be Bob Zipp and Jan Evans for the 9-week series. Cost is $25 including the book.  Classes begin Saturday March 3 at 9:30am

INTERMEDIATE  LESSONS

Francie Straw will teach this series designed for experienced bridge players who want to continue learning the intricacies of bidding and defense. Starting Saturday, March 3 at 9:30, the 8-week class will use Bridge Made Easy: How to Win Tricks.  Lectures are followed by play of the hand to provide experience for practice of the skill taught.   The class will emphasize analytical skills necessary to win the maximum number of tricks.  Players enjoy the friendly, supportive nature of the class.  Cost is $25 including text.
